Supporting Communities at Scale: Samaritans - Brand iQ blog post

Samaritans, a UK charity with 23,000+ volunteers across 200+ branches, supports people in crisis nationwide. They needed a centralised system to manage branding, print, merchandise and digital assets while empowering volunteers to create compliant materials.

Through Samaritans’ ongoing partnership with Brand iQ, we have helped to align their marketing communications, streamlined their fulfilment and scaled operations year on year, whilst supporting increased demand across their nationwide network.

Challenges Faced by Samaritans

Before their partnership with Brand iQ, Samaritans faced several challenges. Maintaining brand consistency across more than 200 branches was difficult. They needed to align marketing communications across print and digital while protecting brand guidelines and visual identity. Additionally, they required a streamlined process for managing orders that combined merchandise, stock, and print-on-demand items.

Brand iQ Solutions

Brand iQ implemented a centralised brand management platform, gathering all digital and print assets, templates and merchandise to one system.

With over 23,000 volunteers, it was essential that each branch had access to the main brand while also using localised templates and approved brand guidelines. Pre-approved imagery and templates allow volunteers to customise materials within set limits, ensuring consistency across all branches and protecting the integrity of the Samaritans brand.

Between January 2024 and September 2025, the Samaritans brand Hub has supported over 15,261 registered users, offering 321 branded stock products and 431 branded print and digital assets. Volunteers have created 6,221 unique custom documents from 167 editable templates, resulting in 2.5 million individual items dispatched to support branch operations and volunteer activity.

With 20,000 volunteers, we wanted a solution that would be easy and accessible for them all to use. The Brand iQ solution has been like night and day for our branches, and by being actively engaged with all our national campaigns, it has enabled them to find new ways to engage with local communities. With the platform, they can create or download bespoke or customised materials, order stock items, print on demand and download digital assets all in one place. Being a small staff team, it’s great to have a platform that does the work for us.
